Exersaucer Part Deux

Filed under: Videos — Luke @ 11:27 pm

OK, so if six minutes of exersaucer weren’t enough for you, here is some more. Mara has since moved on from her trusted friend the giraffe and started making use of more of the toys around her. I am quite amazed at what she is able to work with. I am certain her movements are somewhat random, but I like to think they are more organized. She has gotten to where she is interested in about 80% of the things on the saucer. Once again, this is one for only the true Mara watchers. It is close to the same length as the first E feature.

Parker Making Moves

Filed under: Friends — Luke @ 9:06 pm

Well, Mara got to spend some quality time with Parker this weekend. I guess he gets to be the first man posted to the blog then (sorry Thomas). They spent dinner at the rib fest, dessert at Ganache, and after hours at Parker’s house. That’s a late night, she must have been impressed. Here are some pics of them “hanging out.” Mara is enamored…. just look at her eyes.

Dancing Queen…Well Princess

Filed under: Videos — Steph @ 10:17 pm

Sometimes as a mother you become intoxicated by the smell of a fresh bathed baby, her soft skin or perhaps the gummy smiles she gives you but whatever it is you act silly due to it. Silly in love with Mara I mean. Here I am making her dance to a beat made up by me and doing moves choregraphed by me….who knows where all this came from but I was obviously delirious with joy to be “dancing” with her!

New Pen Pal

Filed under: General — Luke @ 10:26 pm

Well at least once Mara is able to write, then maybe there will be a new pen pal. Congratulations to our friends Brian, Tara and Dani on the arrival of Grace Olivia to the family! We are so happy for them.

P.S. Whoever supplies those blankets has it made! Everyone uses them!

New Outfit = Cute Pictures

Filed under: Pictures — Luke @ 10:17 pm

As Mom was getting Mara ready for her 4 month photo session, she tried some prep shots in a couple new outfits to figure out which ones to take along. Some of her cutest shots were in this new blue beaut supplied by Auntie Jen. Thanks Jen!

We thought we would post them to share (click to enlarge). Enjoy!

Bath Time Blues

If there is one thing that can regularly get our baby girl cranked up it is the bath. She only gets one every other night at this point but boy does she dislike it. Everyone else we talk to says their children love the bath and it relaxes them but not Mara. She gets her bath in the Primo bathtub (thanks Nilou) which is perfect for her small body. It is designed to be used for when babies are very small and for when they get larger. Then we take her out of the bath, dry her off and put on a diaper. Once that is done we take her over to the sink to wash her hair at this point in time. It just seems easier and we want to be very careful not to get water in her ears.

The classical music I’d play during bath time to create a relaxing atmosphere never seemed to do much of anything except create an even noisier environment with all the crying. You know Luke & I keep trying to tell her that there is no crying in the bathtub (adaptation from the movie A League of Their Own) but she doesn’t seem to be reasoned with at this age.

Yesterday when Luke & I went to Babies R Us. I took Shannon’s advice to get some play toys for the bath because it worked for Parker. We got some little sea creatures called “squirts” that you fill up with water and well…squirt! No tears for the first time ever during the bath and shampoo last night. We will see if this continues or if it was just a fluke but until then enjoy this very funny picture of Mara’s first bath ever! Was she a little surprised or what?

Strangers Called Grandparents

Filed under: Videos — Luke @ 5:47 pm

Mara seems to be getting that age that she knows who she recognizes and knows who she does not. I guess its our hope that we can make her accustomed to be held by various people, but its probably inevitable for that not to be the case.

This weekend Grandma and Grandpa came in for a visit on their way to Wilmington. This is their 2nd time seeing Mara. They came in Friday afternoon and just left this morning. Mara had mixed reviews if she liked being held by anyone but Mom or Dad. We were able to get some video yesterday of a good moment of Grandma holding Mara on her lap. Mara seems to begin to recognize her. Take a look!
