Quickly after Mara’s six month check up we realized she would need a new seat soon. She was 25 and 3/4 inches long and once she hit 26 she needed to be in a bigger seat! We opted for the cool cow print one seen here. She seems to like it but I’m sure she will like it much better when she can face forward in it which legally is when she’s 20lbs & 1 year old. She’ll be stylin’ in her cow print seat in mom’s new inferno red minivan!
So finally at about 4-5 months the little one started adjusting to the bath. Now at 7 months she seems to really have fun taking a dip in her Eurobath compliments of Nilou, Charlie & Yassi! It’s a cool tub because when they get older (like now for Mara) the tub turns the other direction and the baby can sit up like she is doing in this picture. I made her some shampoo horns but really if I could I would’ve made a halo! She is such a sweet baby. We really couldn’t ask for a better one than her!
p.s. Did you notice the page is turned? She reads everywhere these days…the beach….the bathtub!!!
Being busy, it has been harder for us to post things. One thing we have noticed is that we haven’t posted video in a while. I thought I would try and grab some video of her playing lately. This was taken last weekend. She does very well with grabbing things now, and reaching out a ways to get them. She is also apt to jabber a little when she plays. Here Dad is trying to get her to say the “Ma” sound, but it apparent that her syllable of the day is “Da.” She tends to do that. Go on runs with a sound and continue for some time. She does it a lot, but rarely will repeat the sound that you are trying to instruct her to say. You will also see in the video that she is very aware of the sounds we make when out of the room and when we enter the room (I forgot until watching again today that I was changing out blown light bulbs in a lamp to get better lighting in this video).

Last Sunday we went to an event called Art in the Arboretum. The Arboretum is a local park, and they had setup arts and crafts vendors along the walkways and had food and entertainment. We were there about three hours and Mara had a good time as she usually does where she gets to look at a lot of people. She also managed to sneak a nap in for about an hour in her stroller. When she woke up, and before we left for the day, one of the last things to do was to get some ice cream because everyone knows that Mara has a sweet tooth. OK, maybe its that Mom and Dad have a sweet tooth. Well… now Mara might actually get one because this was the second time we have given her a taste of ice cream. You can see below her desire for the bubblegum flavor. She also tried black cherry too. Click on the picture to see the album.
Mara has a new best friend as of last Monday! Elizabeth has been kind enough to join us as Mara’s new nanny. Monday the 26th of September was her first day. We look forward to her helping out our little one live long and prosper (like Spock).
